Food Shows Are My Vice

Thanks to guest blogger Lorraine Clemons for the post.
There are few things in life I enjoy more than food. I love everything about it from the cooking and preparation to the enjoyment of eating a delicious meal. Naturally, this has lead to an obsession with watching cooking and food shows on my tv by direct. My favorite station of course is the food network, but I will watch anything dealing with food, creative preparation secrets, and recipes.
Some of my favorite celebrity chefs to watch are Rachel Ray and Paula Deen. They both are just very casual and respectable women who really know how to connect with the average viewer. They mix great food ideas with an inviting and entertaining method of delivery, which keeps me coming back for more. Recently, I have also begun to watch Ace of Cakes. Baking is one of my favorite things to do, and I view my cooking as an art form. This show inspires me to do that with my cakes, which gives me a great sense of personal satisfaction to create something beautiful, with the added bonus of being able to eat it later. One other show that I watch out of pure entertainment is Man vs. Food. It is amazing to see some of the things that man will eat. I have tried spicy foods many times, so I know how painful some of those peppers he eats can be. So as you can see, I will watch anything and everything that deals with food. I just can’t help myself; it is my vice!

Trading Pins and trading cards are hobbies that have been around for quite awhile and are still enjoying popularity. Whatever the occasion, there’s usually a pin to trade. About 12 years ago, I went to a Kiwanis Convention in Miami Beach and saw people wearing very attractive and unusual lapel pins. Some people even had the pins on fishing-type hats. After doing a little inquiring about the meaning of pin trading and how to go about getting pins with nothing to trade, I quickly became addicted. Having no pins when I started out, I ended up with 15 pins that I truly like and wear a couple of them on jackets even today.
Baseball Pins are always a hot item especially during playoff time. They become really hot items for teams that play in the World Series. Internet sales of pins have increased considerably in the past decade due to eBay and other auction sites. Sadly, many people sell pins that are not authentic and collectors with little or limited knowledge are buying the pins for great sums of money. As P.T. Barnum said, “There’s a sucker born everyday”.
Keep Everyone Safe!
There are times when you want to let the sunshine and fresh air into your house and other times when you want it dark. But it needs to be done SAFELY! Children and animals can easily get caught up by the strings and slats in window blinds. A safe way to keep a room dark is with San Diego Window Shades. When I lived in New York years ago, my bedroom window faced East and the morning sun was terrible. What I wouldn’t have given to be able to get custom shades in the correct size.
San Diego Bedspreads can be coordinated with the window shades for an attractive look in the bedroom. Traditional patterns and contemporary styles are available with matching bedding to get the exact look you want.
When you’re re-doing the bedroom, why not add flooring or counter-tops using San Diego granite? Tile and stone flooring is available with choices in color, style and design. Traditional, modern and contemporary colors can change the look and feel of a home right away. Ceramic, porcelain and stone tiles are easy to install and maintain. Hardwood flooring adds an elegant look to any room.
Kitty Litter: Yes. Puppy Litter?
OK: we’ve all heard of kitty litter and know how important it is to a pet owner; it gives them the flexibility to leave the cat for periods of time knowing that there won’t be “messes” to clean up when they return home. I have an 8 year old Maine Coon cat and have never had a problem with “potty training”. When I heard about housebreaking your puppy in a different way, I was very curious.
There’s a dog litter box. It’s an indoor system that attracts a dog to use it. It’s relatively easy for the dog to accept if done in the right way under the guidance of the pet owner. It’s recommended that the box be placed where the dog has had a previous accident as this gives the dog an introductory idea on what the box is for. The dog’s paws don’t get wet and it’ easy to clean. Inclement weather is not a problem when the dog has used the box to relieve themselves as walking the dog outside is eliminated.
Read Dog Toilet Testimonials to understand how the system works and how pleased dog owners are. The system really works!
If I Can’t Have The Crown Jewels….
Plain and simple I LOVE JEWELRY especially rings. My favorite stone is an emerald and my ideal ring would have an emerald-cut emerald with a wide white gold band. If I ever win the lottery that will be my first purchase. Until then, I ‘ll just have to settle for drooling over various pieces. San Diego Diamond Buyers have an interesting job as they sort, grade and price diamonds. Diamond is from the ancient Greek word “adamas” meaning unbreakable. The carbon atoms are arranged in a variation of a lattice and may contain impurities caused by boron (responsible for grey/blue colors) and nitrogen (most common impurity found in diamonds). Diamonds have the optical ability to disperse light of different colors.
A Jewelry Store In San Diego is known for it’s exquisite diamonds. and it’s information about diamonds and their formation history. They are also an option to Sell Watch San Diego along with other pieces of diamond jewelry.
Two little known diamond facts:
*in 2008, the 35.56 carat blue Wittelsbach Diamond that once belonged to the King of Spain sold for US $24M at auction
*a 5 carat vivid pink diamond sold for US $10.8M in Hong Kong
Blowing In The Wind
The last time I saw Palm Trees was when I was in the Bahamas. Seeing then at sunset was unforgettable. A severe tropical storm moved in while I was there and it was amazing to see the palms bend and sway in the strong wind and torrential rain. They lost a few fronds but were all standing tall when the storm was over. It was fascinating to see how they root into the soil and the amount of root that becomes exposed due to water erosion.
California Wholesale Nursery has palms and other tropical plants at very affordable prices. Their evergreens and plants are priced according to the size of the pot. With over 80 acres (that’s right acres) you’re not going to leave empty handed. You drive around, find informed professionals to talk with, ask questions and leave knowing you have the best nursery deal you can get.
San Diego Plant Pricing lets you print out your own price list at the same time you print a nursery map. Once you get there, be prepared to see more plants, evergreens and trees that you’ve seen in one place at one time.
I Remember When…..
I’m probably giving away my age when I say “I remember when..” small two piece bathing suits started appearing at beaches. Poor guys: went home with severe eye strain at the end of the day. Womens One Piece Swimsuits faded by the wayside for awhile when the bikini swim suit came out. Even those who shouldn’t have worn them were wearing them. An afternoon at the beach made for an interesting time just people watching. Areas of skin that had never seen the sun were seeing the light of day and getting badly burned.
Plus Sized Swimwear has come a long way in the last few years. Previously, there was nothing stylish or attractive for the heavier woman to choose. Most suits had the ruffled skirt over the hips that billowed out in the water and made a woman look immense. Today’s designs, fabrics and colors makes bathing suits attractive for any size lady.
Women’s Tankini Swimsuit styles fit almost any woman, look attractive and are comfortable. It’s looks like a two-piece swimsuit but doesn’t have the exposure of skin that some women don’t wait. Similar to a tank top, it is very versatile for any beach occasion.
